Process
The design process is key to a successful project, and is the fundamental service offered by Arko Architecture. The process is built around understanding your design goals, and tailoring a solution to meet that vision. Collaboration is key - projects are not designed for you; they are designed with you.
1. Getting to Know You(r project)
Before pencil meets paper, Arko Architecture listens and observes - what are your goals, what excites you about the project, what are you hoping to achieve? We observe existing site and structure, discuss budget, and look at examples to clarify the vision. This process produces a series of objectives, which act as a framework for the rest of the project.
2. Schematic Design
With the project objectives in hand, Arko Architecture will develop multiple schematic design options to meet the goals of the project. Together, we’ll examine the advantages of each scheme, and then refine the design into a single cohesive expression that best satisfies your objectives, budget, and ideals.
3. Design Development
The general design direction established in Schematic Design is is expanded upon, with detailed plans, elevations and three dimensional renderings to clearly convey the intent. The conversation between us starts to consider finishes, details, and transitions. This is where you’ll see the (digital) design spring to life.
4. Bid and Permit
The drawings created during Design Development are given thorough detailing and notation to prepare them for contractor bidding and permit submission. Arko Architecture assists in the selection of a qualified contractor, and analyzes project budgets and bids to make sure your money is responsibly spent. We also submit the drawings for review from the local building department, and expedite the permit process.
5. Construction
Arko Architecture is your advocate during the construction process, ensuring that the design intent conveyed through the drawings and bid on by the contractor is executed faithfully. As issues arise in the field, we work with the contractor to resolve them, ever mindful of the project objectives established at the onset. We see the project through to completion.
